A Statement from HallKeen Management

Friday, June 05, 2020

We are deeply saddened by the treatment and tragic death of George Floyd. We are grieving for Mr. Floyd and all of the violent deaths our nation has witnessed as clear evidence of injustice, discrimination, and ongoing racism.

In cities across America, people and communities are expressing a gamut of emotions: from anger and grief, to hope and solidarity. The images of the slain have left us heartbroken and angry. We are committed to and will support local and national efforts and policy to bring an end to these injustices, and are hopeful that from this pain and suffering will come a future of understanding and equality for all.

At HallKeen, we are a diverse employee family of 1,000 strong. Approximately 40% of our employees self-identify as minority. Our employees come from all races and ethnicities- and that diversity is our greatest strength. We see the impact that this ongoing injustice has had on all of us at HallKeen and we are standing with you. We do not and will not tolerate racism, bigotry, or bias.

We are committed to encouraging and developing opportunities for employees of all skin colors and backgrounds. At the property level we recognize the importance of reaching beyond the four walls of each community to connect and empower the residents we serve. The majority of residents living in our residential apartments are persons of color. We are committed to doing our part to ensure health, happiness and equality for all, with a goal of increased housing stability and access to opportunities for advancement.

We applaud those who have not been silent and value and encourage the voices that are too afraid to be heard.

We stand in solidarity with our Black team members, employees and residents. We are listening, learning and understanding.

We stand together in calling for an end to eradicate hate in people’s hearts, and work towards a better future and are committed to this responsibility as individuals and as a company.

We firmly believe in racial justice and are wholeheartedly committed to doing our part to ensure health, happiness, and equality for all.
