A Reflection On 2018 - A Successful Year For HallKeen

Friday, January 04, 2019

Happy New Year everyone!!

In this week's blog post we wanted to reflect on 2018 and all of the growth we had within the last year!

Our properties made time for every holiday, and made a special point to spend them with their residents, and their residents family, and friends, at a variety of events and parties!

Valentines Day at Courts of Camp Springs.

St. Patrick's day and Halloween at Brigham House assisted living.

Thanksgiving at 110 Petersborough Street.

December Holiday celebrations at Simpkins School Residents.

HallKeen also welcomed new properties, and celebrated the updates of others with several grand - opening & grand re-opening ceremonies!

In May we celebrated the grand opening of Lenox School House in Lenox, MA.

In August we put together a grand re-opening and ribbon cutting ceremony, to celebrate the renovations that were done at our Brookside Park Apartments in Berlin, NH.

And lastly, In September we celebrated the grand-opening for Phase I of Brook Hill Village in Suffield, CT.

We have also experienced major growth in our company, specifically in the Assisted Living section. Half of our company now consists of Assisted Living Communities, and we are thrilled to have made such progress in this area.

Overall, this year has been one for the books, and we are so pleased with what a successful year we've had. We had so much to celebrate in 2018, and can only hope that 2019 will be even better!  We look forward to all of the great things planned for the year ahead, and can't wait to share it with all of you!

Here's to 2019!

HallKeen Corporate Holiday Party

Wednesday, December 26, 2018

The Staff at the Norwood Corporate office enjoyed a wonderful day out of the office on Friday December 21st to celebrate the Holiday season.

The event was held at Four Points by Sheraton in Norwood, and the food was incredible. They provided passed appetizers to start, along with a butternut squash soup, and a mixed green salad. Our staff had the choice of a chicken, beef, or veggie dish for the main course, and the event ended with coffee, tea, and a variety of delicious desserts.

Everyone had a great time taking posing for photo in the photo booth area with fun holiday props!

The party also consisted of a Yankee swap, a raffle, and a holiday themed game as well!

The object of the game was to open a wrapped gift while wearing oven mitts! Each table of Hallkeen team members participated, and the deciding factor for who began was based on the first letter of their last name, or whoever had the closest birthday.

Once it was decided who would be the first to start, the person to their left rolled two dice until they rolled a double. Once that person rolled a double the gift was then passed on to that person. The process continued around the table and whoever was the first to reveal the gift, would then get to keep it!

The game was a huge hit and everyone had so much fun!!

We also had a pajama donation, and were able to donate 37 sleepwear outfits through our local Carter’s store to children in need! Carter’s was so grateful for HallKeen’s donation, and thanked our team for their great generosity!

Overall the Holiday party was a great success, and everyone had a blast! This year we are so grateful for our hardworking staff members, and hope that everyone enjoyed this holiday season and has a happy and healthy year ahead!!

Holiday Traditions Continue at Heywood Wakefield Commons

Wednesday, December 12, 2018

During the week of November 26 – 30, staff, residents and volunteers at Heywood Wakefield Commons turned their community into a winter wonderland!

Several residents came out for the “picture wrapping” activity on Monday, at which the pictures hanging on the walls throughout the common areas were wrapped to look like holiday gifts. Then on Wednesday, the tradition of decorating our Lounge Christmas tree continued.

Ornaments the residents had created back in July now grace that tree. The decorating was completed just in time for our annual Holiday Open House on Saturday December 1st. This event gave residents and staff and our families an opportunity to get to know one another as we enjoyed fabulous food from our kitchen and entertainment by Honky Tonk pianist, Gary Landgren. What a great start to the holiday season!

Woods at Wareham Holiday Party

Wednesday, December 05, 2018

On Saturday, December 1st, the Resident Service Coordinator at Woods at Wareham, Shakeila Perez along with members from Church in the Pines of Wareham collaborated on throwing a holiday party for the children at the property. At the party, children decorated ginger bread houses made out of gram crackers and white frosting and decorated their houses with a variety of candies.

Additionally, residents made their very own holiday ornament to take home with them. Both parents and children of all ages attended the event. It was fun for all and residents can't wait for next year's holiday party!!!

Thanksgiving at HallKeen

Wednesday, November 28, 2018

Our HallKeen properties always have such a wonderful time celebrating the holidays, especially thanksgiving!

110 Peterborough Street hosted their annual Thanksgiving Luncheon last week.

Residents were able to sit together and socialize over lots of food and music.

The Saturday before thanksgiving several Neptune Towers residents, along with over 950 other local families received free turkeys and all the fixings for Thanksgiving Dinners.

Many people volunteered their time to help pass the turkeys out, including Neptune Towers employees Margie Cronin and Miranda Wilson, along with, State Representative Dan Cahill, State Representative Pete Capano, and Lee Alston.

It was a very humbling experience for all of our staff and volunteers.

Maintenance Mania 2018

Wednesday, November 14, 2018

On Thursday November 8th, we went to the Lantana in Randolph, to cheer on some of our HallKeen Hero’s in this year’s Maintenance Mania event.

Maintenance Mania is a national program where NAA affiliated maintenance technicians compete against each other in several skill-based table games based on common maintenance activities and ends with a race car competition.

Participants build their race cars prior to the event, aiming to have the fastest and most creative car built out of maintenance supplies.

All games are timed to determine the fastest competitor in each game and overall. It was really cool to watch and a fun event enjoyed by all!
